It's been said that the "What if...?" is the most powerful question for inspiring fictional writers to do what they do best-- write fiction, of course! And I find I have some of my craziest "what ifs" while I am driving.
So late last night, while I was driving on a back road of some small town near the south border of North Carolina, I had an epiphany of sorts, or more of a flood of ideas, scary ideas. I pondered the questions of "What if a person came running out of one of the many corn fields I passed by, covered in blood and screaming for help?" Would I stop and offer to help them or try to swerve around them? "What if I saw a humanoid creature running behind my car?" Would I stop to see what it would do or assume that it was chasing me and attempt to outrun it? "What if there was a man hiding in my backseat?" or "What if that green tinted light in the sky that suddenly moved and disappeared was a UFO?"
